Visit by Children from the Góis School Group to the “Trout Cycle”

This morning, the exhibition space “Trout Cycle of Góis – Monteira Park” welcomed 23 preschool children from Góis, Alvares, and Vila Nova do Ceira, part of the Góis School Group.

During the visit, the children explored the Water Cycle and the Trout Life Cycle, tried the interactive games and virtual reality headsets, and observed brown trout in the outdoor tanks, including viewing the eggs in the hatchery.

At the end of the visit, the young visitors had the opportunity to witness the spawning process through artificial fertilisation by abdominal compression, a method used to help preserve this species, which is highly sensitive to pollution and temperature increases.

In the coming days, the space will welcome other students from Góis, giving them the opportunity to learn about this important local species.
